CUSTOM DIESEL
TUNING

Cummins, Powerstroke, Duramax. The calibration is built to your VIN around the parts actually on the truck, then proven on our dyno instead of guessed at. Revisions included, every time.

How It Works

FOUR STEPS, NO SURPRISES

There is no "add to cart" for a diesel tune, because the right file depends entirely on what is bolted to your engine. So the process starts with information, not a checkout.

01

YOU TELL US THE TRUCK

Year, make, model, engine, VIN, every modification, tire size, and what you actually want the truck to do. It takes about five minutes and it is the whole foundation of the quote.

02

WE QUOTE IT BY HAND

Within 24 hours you get an itemized package back — tuning, dyno time and anything else as separate lines. No bundled mystery number, no menu pricing that ignores your build.

03

YOU RELEASE THE BUILD

Paying the tuning portion starts the file build against your VIN. Revisions are included from that point on. The rest of the quote is due on the day you come in.

04

WE LOCK IN YOUR DYNO TIME

Scheduled against both your availability and the tuner's, then confirmed on the calendar. You come to Tooele, we run the pulls, you leave with a truck that does what you asked for.

ABOUT SESSION LENGTH

Most remote tuning sessions fit inside a two-hour block. If the truck arrives with a mechanical issue, or it is a more complex setup, it can run longer — and any additional time above the quote is approved by you before we proceed, not billed after. 801-505-9199

What You Get

TUNED ON THE ROLLERS, NOT ON A GUESS

Plenty of places will email you a file. The difference here is that the truck goes on a chassis dyno and the numbers get checked before you drive away on it.

🔁

REVISIONS INCLUDED

No tune is right on the first flash. Revisions are included at no extra cost on every diesel tune, so nobody is counting billable changes while your truck is on the rollers.

📊

DYNO-VERIFIED

Power and torque measured on our chassis dyno, not estimated from a spec sheet. You see what the file actually did to your truck.

🛠

BUILT FOR YOUR PARTS

Turbo, injectors, lift pump, tires, gearing, transmission — the file is written for the combination in front of us, which is the part generic tunes cannot do.

📅

ONE VISIT, ONE PLACE

Tune and dyno happen at the same shop on the same day, so you are not shuttling a truck between a tuner and a dyno facility.

💬

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

If your power target is not realistic on your current setup, we say so in the quote — before you spend money, not after.

Platforms

ALL THREE, AND THEN SOME

Our request form is platform-agnostic on purpose — you give us the year, engine and VIN and we work out what is possible, rather than forcing your truck into someone else's dropdown.

POWERSTROKE

Running something not on this list? Send it through anyway — most modern diesel platforms are workable, and we will tell you plainly if yours is not.

What It Costs

QUOTED BY HAND, SPLIT IN TWO

We do not publish tuning prices, because a number on a page would be wrong for almost every truck. What we can tell you is exactly how the money is structured.

Due up front

THE TUNING

The calibration is built to order against your VIN. Once that build starts the work exists and cannot be resold to anyone else, so the tuning line is charged in full up front and is non-refundable once the build begins.

Paying it is what releases the build. Revisions are included from there on at no extra cost.

Due on the day

DYNO TIME & EVERYTHING ELSE

Dyno time, any additional labor, and any parts or hardware are quoted as their own lines and are settled when you come in.

If a session runs past its block because of a mechanical issue or a complex setup, any additional time above the quote will be approved by you before we proceed.

WHO ACTUALLY DOES THE TUNING

Utah Dyno Shop facilitates custom tuning — we are not the tuner. We coordinate the build, provide the chassis dyno and run the pulls. The calibration file itself is developed and supported by our independent tuning partner.

That is why tuning appears as its own line item on every quote rather than being folded into a single number: you can see what you are buying, and from whom.

Before You Start

WHAT WE'LL ASK YOU FOR

Worth having to hand before you open the form — it takes about five minutes if you do.

Vehicle & engine
Year, make, model and engine — plus transmission and drivetrain if you know them.
VIN
All 17 characters. The file is built against your specific VIN, so nothing can be priced without it. Driver-side dash or door jamb.
Every modification
Turbo, injectors, lift pump, CP3/CP4, exhaust, intake, intercooler, head studs, transmission work, gauges. This is the single most important answer on the form — a file written for parts that are not on the truck is how engines get hurt.
Tire size & axle ratio
Both change how the truck is calibrated and how the speedometer reads.
Your goal
Stock optimized, towing, daily driving, street performance or competition — and in your own words, what you want the truck to do differently.
Tuner device
The serial from your AutoCal or FlashScan if you own one. If you do not, say so and we will quote a device with the package.
When you'd like to come in
A preferred date and time. Final availability depends on the tuner's schedule as well as ours, so nothing is reserved until your quote is paid.

Questions

DIESEL TUNING FAQ

There is no flat price, because there is no flat tune. What a file costs depends on the platform, what is already bolted to the engine, and what you are asking the truck to do — a stock-optimized daily and a competition build are not the same job. Send us the truck through our tuning request form and you get an itemized quote back within 24 hours, with the tuning, the dyno time and anything else priced as separate lines so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
Yes — we handle all three, along with most other modern diesel platforms. Our request form is deliberately platform-agnostic: you tell us the year, make, model, engine and VIN, and we work out what is possible from there rather than making you pick from a menu that only fits one brand.
Yes. Revisions are included at no additional cost on all diesel tunes. A tune is rarely perfect on the first flash — the truck tells you things on the rollers and on the road that no one can predict from a spec sheet — so revisions being billable would put you and us on opposite sides. They are not.
The tuning file is built to order against your specific VIN. Once that build starts, the work is done and it cannot be resold to anyone else, so the tuning line on your quote is charged in full up front and is non-refundable once the build begins. Dyno time and any other work on the quote are billed separately and are due on the day.
No — and we are upfront about that. Utah Dyno Shop facilitates custom tuning through an independent tuning partner. We coordinate the build, provide the dyno and run the pulls; the calibration itself is developed and supported by the tuning partner, and it appears as its own line item on your quote.
Most remote tuning sessions fit inside a two-hour block on the dyno. If the truck turns up with a mechanical issue, or it is a more involved setup, it can run longer — and any additional time above the quote will be approved by you before we proceed, rather than surprising you at the end.
Yes. If you already own an AutoCal or FlashScan, give us the serial on the request form and the file can be delivered to it. If you do not have one, tick the box on the form and we will quote a device alongside the tuning package.
Our dyno is two-wheel-drive only, so the truck has to be able to run in 2WD for the pulls. Nearly every 4x4 diesel can — but confirm yours can before you book, because it is the one thing that will stop a session on the day.
We are at 1885 E Ave in Tooele, Utah, about forty minutes from downtown Salt Lake City straight out I-80. Trucks come to us from across the Wasatch Front — Salt Lake, Ogden, Layton, Provo, Park City — and from out of state for event weekends.
Year, make, model, engine and VIN, a full list of modifications, tire size, and an honest description of what you want the truck to do. The modification list matters more than anything else on the form — a tune written for parts that are not actually on the truck is how engines get hurt.
